1. Open Citewise from Shopify admin
After installing the app, open Shopify admin, go to Apps, and select Citewise. The app runs as an embedded Shopify admin app.
2. Complete your brand profile
Go to Settings and add your brand name, common aliases, competitor brands, and preferred answer language. This helps Citewise detect whether AI answers mention your brand correctly.
3. Add keywords
Add prompts shoppers might ask AI assistants, such as product comparison questions, category research questions, or buying guide questions. Each scan equals one keyword on one AI platform.
4. Run your first AI scan
Use Scan now on a keyword. Citewise saves the AI answer, citations, brand mentions, competitor mentions, and scan status so you can track changes over time.
5. Publish llms.txt
Open the llms.txt page, generate a draft from Shopify products, collections, pages, and shop information, review it, then publish it through the Shopify app proxy.

6. Enable storefront schema
Open AI Setup, go to Schema, save your Organization details, enable the theme app embed, and add the Product schema app section to your product template in the Shopify theme editor.

7. Review recommendations
The Action Center and Recommendations pages turn scan findings into practical tasks such as adding aliases, improving page content, updating llms.txt, or reviewing schema gaps.
