FAQ

Common questions about Citewise.

Short answers for merchants setting up AI visibility tracking, llms.txt, Schema.org, billing, and data handling.

What does Citewise do?

Citewise helps Shopify merchants track how AI assistants answer shopper-style prompts, whether the merchant's brand is mentioned, which competitors appear, and what storefront content may need improvement.

What is one AI scan?

One scan is one keyword or prompt checked on one AI platform. For example, one keyword across five platforms uses five scan credits.

Does Citewise access customer personal data?

Citewise does not need protected customer data such as names, emails, addresses, payment information, orders, or checkout content for its core features.

What does the web pixel do?

If enabled, the web pixel helps detect AI-referred storefront traffic using limited event data such as page URL, referrer, anonymous session or client ID, device category, country or region, and timestamp.

How do I publish llms.txt?

Open the llms.txt page in Citewise, generate a draft, review the content, and publish it. The published file is served through your Shopify storefront app proxy.

How do I enable Product schema?

In Shopify theme editor, open a product template, add an Apps section, and choose the Citewise or GEO Product schema app section.

Why is my Schema audit missing Product JSON-LD?

Product JSON-LD appears only after the Product schema app section is added to a product template and the theme is published.

Is there a free trial?

STARTER includes a one-time 7-day free trial per store. GROWTH and PRO are billed monthly when confirmed in Shopify.

What happens if I uninstall the app?

Citewise stops processing new Shopify data after uninstall. We also handle Shopify privacy webhooks for customer and shop deletion requests.

How do I contact support?
